Actuality from the project

Launched in the spring of 2023, the MHD@Exascale project is making progress on several fronts. The Dyablo code has been enhanced with a dust coupling module—the results of which have been the subject of an initial scientific publication—as well as a cosmic ray transport module that has now been validated. The Idefix code, meanwhile, features a comprehensive radiative transfer module, which has also led to a scientific publication. These advances have fostered strong synergy among the project’s three codes: similar dust modules have been integrated into Idefix and Shamrock. Shamrock has also been successfully tested on Aurora, one of the world’s first exascale supercomputers. Collaborations with the EADS-Airbus group have also begun.


Focus

Between now and the end of the project, several developments are still underway or planned. The AMR (adaptive mesh refinement) component of the cosmic ray transport module in Dyablo still needs to be finalized. Dyablo’s multi-grid self-gravity module, currently undergoing validation, will soon be put into production. The scientific operation of Idefix’s radiative transfer module, for which a methodological paper has just been accepted for publication, will need to be finalized. Finally, the three codes will need to be tested and optimized on the Alice Recoque supercomputer, which is scheduled to be installed in France in 2027.

There is no direct link to the other PCs, but there is a link to the Numpex PEPR.


Relation with industries

The MHD@Exascale project has established collaborations with the industrial sector, demonstrating the value of the developments achieved beyond the academic world. In particular, a partnership has been launched with the EADS-Airbus Group, opening up opportunities for applying the tools developed in industrial contexts.
